The Fauquier Fireballs are a U13 girls travel team playing in Division I of the Old Dominion Soccer League. We are a talented, enthusiastic group of girls committed to competitive play and having fun! We are coached by Rick Ashley and Tom Kohler, our team manager is Barbara Jansce, and our team treasurer is Jeff Babos. Our head coach, Rick Ashley, holds a National “C” license from the U. S. Soccer Federation and has been involved in coaching our team since its formation in the summer of 2003. He is also the assistant coach for the Fauquier High School girls JV soccer team.
We are also trained by Jane Dawber. Jane Holds a UEFA "B" coaching license, and is the director of player development for the Fauquier County Soccer Club. You can learn more about Jane's training programs by visiting her website at www.shoottoscore.net.
In addition to our regular season of play, we enter 1-2 tournaments per season. Our greatest success in tournament play includes our championship wins in the Prince William Ice Breaker in 2004, and the Sand Soccer Tournament in Virginia Beach in 2005. We also placed 1st in our division in the Hunt Country Classic in the fall of 2006.
All of our players from our fall roster are returning for the Spring season, and we are looking forward to a very competitive spring campaign in ODSL Division I.
Go Fireballs!

Coach Rick named Locker Room’s 2007 “Most Valuable Coach”
October 2, 2007 - The Fireballs congratulate Coach Rick on being named “Most Valuable Coach” for 2007 by The Locker Room Sports Bar and Lounge in Warrenton. The Locker Room invited youth sports teams to submit entries stating why their coach should be the “Most Valuable Coach” for 2007. Brandy submitted the following entry on behalf of the Fireballs:
“I think he’s the best coach ever because he takes the time to teach me and my teammates new techniques. He never raises his voice with us, he talks to us and understands us. He’s just a fun all around coach. I think he deserves to get Locker Room Coach of the Year because he has took his time to coach us through everything. He definitely deserves it! One thing I love about him being my coach is no matter if we win or lose he always says he’s proud to be our coach and that he’s proud of us. He also gives us great confidence!”
For being the Most Valuable Coach, The Locker Room gave Coach Rick a very nice engraved plaque, a framed copy of the winning entry signed by the team and team parents, a Locker Room t-shirt, and a $50 gift certificate. The Locker Room also gave a generous $200 sponsorship donation to the Fireballs. The Locker Room and the Fireballs held a surprise party for Coach Rick on Sunday, September 30th, when he was presented with the award and the donation to the team. We had a fun afternoon enjoying great food at the Locker Room and embarrassing our head coach! Thank you to the Locker Room for their support of youth sports in Fauquier County, for their sponsorship of a great contest emphasizing positive coaching, and for their generous donation to the team!
Fireballs Invade Charlottesville
September 21, 2007 – The Fireballs traveled to Charlottesville to see the UVA women’s soccer team take on Liberty University. Ten players and six parents (and some younger brothers and sisters!) made the trek to watch the Lady Cavaliers dismantle the Flames by a score of 5-0. Everyone had an absolute blast at the game. While UVA dominated the first half, they only had one goal to show for their efforts at halftime. The ladies found the back of the net often in the second half, exploding for 4 goals. Early in the game Katherine was selected as the “Fan of the Game.” At halftime she went down by the field and was presented with a soccer ball as a television camera captured the event. The Fireballs cheered wildly as Katherine was announced to the crowd as the “Fan of the Game!” In addition to the ball that Katherine received, the entire team got coupons for free cheesy bread from Dominoes. Speaking of loud, every time the Lady Cavs scored a goal the ushers would throw t-shirts into the crowd. Once the girls figured out this routine they (well, I should say some of them!) began screaming hysterically after every goal hoping that a t-shirt would be thrown our way. Those of us sitting near Hanna still have ringing in our ears! How one of the girls didn’t get a shirt is truly a mystery as their yelling could be heard throughout Klöckner stadium, Mark was the only fortunate fan from the Fireballs to catch a shirt (ask Rebecca who he almost knocked over to get it!). We were a tired crew when we got back to Warrenton, but we arrived home with some great memories from an extremely fun Fireballs’ road trip!
